Memorial Day is more than a day off—it’s a sacred moment to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This day stands as a heartfelt reminder that while we honor those we've lost, we must also advocate for our veterans who continue to fight battles at home.

KAYLA MARTINS – Daughter of SSG Christopher Hawes, U.S. Army - Kayla lost her father, SSG Christopher Hawes, in service—but she never lost sight of his legacy. With support from Children of Fallen Patriots, she pursued her education with purpose and continues to honor him in everything she does.
REBEKAH HAWES – Wife of SSG Christopher Hawes, U.S. Army - Rebekah lost her husband, SSG Christopher Hawes—but not his memory. Now, she’s raising their children with strength, love, and the support of Children of Fallen Patriots, ensuring his legacy lives on through their future.

This yearly tradition is a solemn reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that so many brave men and women have made for our country. It is also a chance for us to come together as a community and pay tribute to these heroes, ensuring that their names and legacies are never forgotten.

IRREVERENT WARRIORS

Over 11,193 veterans and volunteers participated in IW hikes, mini-events, and alternative healing activities in 2024, adding to our 75,000 alumni. These gatherings helped struggling veterans rebuild their “emotional safety net” and reconnect with a supportive tribe. In 2024, IW mobilized over 200 volunteers in response to Hurricane Helene, delivering 10,000 pounds of critical supplies and distributing $1.8 million in Grunt Style clothing to affected communities. Local chapters also led efforts to clothe 100 homeless veterans and Afghan refugees.

ADVOCACY

This crisis of overprescribing and unsafe mental health care is the veteran community’s worst-kept secret. The Grunt Style Foundation is confronting it head-on with The War Cry for Change: A Revolution to Reclaim Veteran Mental Health. This initiative empowers veterans, military families, and survivors to share their stories and advocate for safe, effective mental health treatments for all.
