On Monday, September 16, 2019, Juvenile Investigator Dornell Cousette, of the Tuscaloosa Police Department (AL) answered a call where a subject known to be wanted for Robbery I (involving a firearm) was spotted at a residence in the 3200 block of 16 th St. When Inv. Cousette attempted to make contact with that subject, the suspect ran inside the residence and Inv. Cousette gave chase. Inside the doorway there was an exchange of gunfire and both Inv. Cousette and the subject were injured. Inv. Cousette was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center where he regrettably succumbed to the gunshot wound he sustained in the shooting. The subject was later taken into custody at another nearby hospital. Inv. Cousette is survived by 2 beautiful teenage daughters, a fiancée, and numerous other family- both blood and blue. Inv. Cousette was a 13 year veteran of the Tuscaloosa Department and impacted the youth of the community in a way no one else could. The Tuscaloosa Police Department, Cousette family, and our community still mourns the devastating loss of Inv. Cousette, but amid the incredible heartbreak it is also our responsibility to make sure his young daughters are taken care of in the wake of his death. Half of all proceeds from your purchase will be donated to support Inv. Cousette’s girls. We would like to express our deep gratitude for continued prayers, love, and support for Inv. Cousette’s family and the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
