IRREVERENT WARRIORS

When you or your warrior came home – What came next? Did you notice a lack of drive, motivation, purpose? Tens of thousands of warfighters come home only to find themselves meandering through a civilian life that they feel cut off from. They cannot relate, and so, they often isolate themselves. And in that isolation, unfortunately, many find their demons awaiting. Introducing IRREVERENT WARRIORS. A non-profit built by veterans exclusively for veterans, combat or not. They have saved tens of thousands of lives – come and see how they are saving lives one pair of silkies at a time.

THE WHY

What sets Irreverent Warriors apart from other veteran service organizations out there? Well, it’s pretty simple, they bring Veterans together! Now, we know other organizations do that. But their formula, their method is just something completely different – can you name a single V.S.O whose dress code is booty shorts? Neither can we. Come and see why I.W. is making a difference!

How does any of it work?

This is a hard one! For one, you can probably be told ten thousand different ways how I.W. is changing lives for the better and doing what the V.A. is failing to do: saving our warfighters from committing suicide. As it turns out, the secret sauce is laughter and community! But like losing your virginity, the only authentic way to know “is to know.” You gotta experience it! Meanwhile, come and see what I.W. does and how it does it!

Kurt

Creating exquisite, one-of-a-kind pieces from wood in his early childhood led veteran Kurt B. to open his own craftsmen woodworking company,

Ballash Woodworks (https://www.ballashwoodworks.com), once his time in the service came to an end. After the business was flourishing, Kurt began the development of Artisans Outreach, a program for veterans.

Everything was looking up, but right before the program took flight his wife, Jamie, died suddenly of a heart attack. This tragic turn of events coincided with the start of the initial COVID-19 shutdown and took a massive toll on Kurt. His guiding light was gone. While many veterans sadly succumb to the demons they face,

Kurt used his grief as the driving force behind his and Jamie’s vision. As a result, Artisans Outreach successfully launched in honor of Jamie and currently partners with other veteran organizations.

Through Artisans Outreach, active duty soldiers, veterans, their family members, and caregivers are given the opportunity to acquire artisan skills and bring their own unique creations to life through woodworking.

What started as a shadow in his grandfather’s footsteps has now turned into an opportunity to encourage the same therapeutic effect Kurt experiences through his craft in veterans across the country.
